In my previous article, I stated that Panda and Penguin had affected many online presence and personal websites. While webmasters are still recovering from the issue, another new algorithm is about to come in coming days.
The new rule is that for links to help drive a website’s search engine rankings, they must have something to do with the content of any website they appear on. For example, if a website for a veterinarian’s office contains links to online cell phone store, those links will not count towards the website’s rankings. The other new rule is that a link can only be put on a website if it was obtained through a social media site or guest post on someone else’s blog, for example.

Another change in SEO is that a website’s ranking will be penalized if it contains too many keywords. This is known as keyword stuffing, and has become quite a problem recently. Experts recommend using a particular keyword no more than three times on each page. It is also becoming more critical for a website to be updated on a regular basis in order to rise in the search engine’s ranks. SEO is constantly changing and websites much change with it.
SEJ has reported that "Co-Citation and Co-Occurrence" will be the next big thing to affect the search engine rankings. According to a German SEO firm, SeoFoxx, search engine rankings are about to spike down 30% with the coming SEO updates and it will affect most of the major portals having high rankings.
SEO has been going through a metamorphosis lately as, in the past, people were cheating to boost their rankings with the major search engines. The way SEO used to work is that the more links a website contained the higher its ranking would be. This started to cause problems because webmasters would put fake links on their page just to please search engines like Google and Yahoo. People would ask others for the links to their websites in an attempt to beef up their own site. The major search engines have caught onto this and since changes have been enacted as a result of the Panda and Penguin processes, and website owners have to be more careful about the links they put on their page, as well as how they acquire those links.
