Assassin’s Creed 4 launch date revealed through URL trickery

Assassin's Creed IV
Just the other day, we saw a poster leak for the next installment in Ubisoft’s assassinate-em-up, which showed a new assassin, as well as a new pirate-themed setting. The poster leaked just four months after the newest installment, Assassin’s Creed 3 released. The short timing might’ve made the leak seem a little phony, but as it turned out, Ubisoft is already hard at work on the next Creed. In four days from now, Ubi will release the the premiere trailer of the new game, officially announcing its existence to the world.
However, DarkZero participated in a little snooping with the announcement URL, and figured out that if you add one simple letter, a “v,” to the end of the URL, then you could view a page with a release date, along with another intriguing announcement. The release date listed in the revealed page is October 29, which shouldn’t be a surprise to fans of the series, as Assassin’s Creed games really like to release in the months of October and November. This has happened Pretty much every year since the series’ inception back in 2007.
AC4 leaks
The revealed page also contained the message “also coming to next-gen consoles,” pointing towards releases for the PS4 and Xbox 720.
Those who tend to focus on semantics, though, will note that the next-gen message is placed above the release date, rather than below, and if read in succession, it would sound like the game will be on next-gen consoles on October 29. This, of course, would mean that next-gen consoles would be out by October 29. You probably shouldn’t focus too heavily on the semantics, here. Not only is the next-gen message and release date clearly demarcated as separate thoughts (different font sizes, colors), but it’s entirely possible that Ubisoft is counting the Wii U — already released — as a next-gen console. However laughable that may seem to you, we supposed that, technically, it’s correct.
At the time of this writing, I couldn’t get the URL trick to work, as it would just redirect me to a countdown page for the trailer. Whether Ubisoft removed the trick or not, it’s clear that Assassin’s Creed 4 is a real thing, and you’ll be able to watch the premiere trailer in four days.
